When studying the working conditions of computer users, characterized by a complex of factors of the working environment [5], special attention should be paid to measuring the strength of the electrostatic field (ESP) - the electric field of stationary electric charges formed on the display screen during operation of a cathode-ray tube, as well as on surfaces made of polymeric materials (keyboards, work tables, floors of premises, punched cards, punched tapes, paper) during their processing.
The biological effect of ESP was studied in a laboratory experiment. It has been established that the biological effect of the field effect on the organism of experimental animals depends on its intensity and direction of the lines of force.
The systematic effect of ESP on the human body of increased tension can cause functional changes in the central nervous, cardiovascular, neurohumoral and other systems of the body [2, 3]. It is noted that people who have been exposed to ESP for a long time have an increase in general tension, headache, poor sleep, weakness, irritability, and discomfort in the heart. Prolonged stay in the zone of action of ESP of increased tension leads to an increase in symptoms of neurasthenia with hypotension, general asthenization of the body and a decrease in its resistance [3].
At present, recommendations have been developed to prevent the possibility of accumulation of static electricity charges [1, 3], according to which it is necessary to maintain air humidity in rooms up to 60-70%; psychrometers must be installed for monitoring.
Do not work in clothes made of synthetic fabrics or silk. It is advisable to wear cloth shoes with leather soles.
Collect paper and punched tape from the alphanumeric printing device (ADC) and photo readers in grounded metal trays. The surface of the floors must be covered with an antistatic coating (PVC linoleum grade ASN TU 21-29-109-84). Direct contact with punched cards is allowed 1 min after the end of their processing.
When working on all types of displays, it is necessary that the distance from the eyes of the worker to the screen be at least 35-40 cm. It is also necessary to observe the mode of work and rest.
When designing a computer center and premises, the workplaces of which are equipped with displays, it is necessary to use recommendations to prevent the possibility of accumulating static electricity charges.
