The analysis of domestic and foreign literature over the past ten years on the toxicological and hygienic characteristics of biological products and their impact on the health of workers in various fields of agriculture and industry.

The systematization of existing biological factors has been carried out, on the basis of which three basic principles of their classification have been substantiated.

The first principle is the division of all factors of biological nature according to their origin into 4 groups: pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms, including genetically modified forms; plant substances; waste products of microorganisms and plants; waste products of animals.

The second principle is the separation of biological products by classes of pile conditions, taking into account the toxicity class and the hazard class according to the criterion of allergenicity.

The third principle is the separation of biological products, taking into account the indicators of selective action on individual functional systems of the body (central nervous system, respiratory, cardiovascular, etc.) and hazard indicators that characterize the possible specific effect (pathogenicity, carcinogenicity, teratogenicity, embryotoxicity).

With the help of this classification, it is possible to give a specific assessment of the degree of risk of a biological factor for workers, and for drugs that are synthesized for the first time - to predict their possible risk to health. This creates an opportunity for a better assessment of working conditions when certifying workplaces at agricultural and industrial facilities, which will help improve the quality of preliminary and current sanitary and hygienic control over working conditions and justify the use of special research methods during medical examinations of workers during production and use. biological products.

Key words: classification, biological factors, mechanism of action, plant dust, biological preparations, agriculture, industry.
