Further development of ferrous metallurgy in our country, intensification of production processes lead to an increase in the number of employees in this industry. In the complex of factors characterizing the working conditions in open-hearth, electric steel-making and other hot shops of the metallurgical industry, heat radiation is the main one and accompanies almost all technological operations, forms the microclimate of industrial premises and determines changes in the physiological reactions of workers exposed to it. The stress of the thermoregulatory functions of steel makers noted by many researchers depends not only on the level of air temperature at workplaces, the severity of physical work and other factors, but to a large extent on the characteristics of the effect of thermal radiation.
The intensity of irradiation, the size of the irradiated area, the exposure time of the factor and the spectral composition of the radiation are of great importance.
