A Scientific Conference of young scientists “Actual problems of occupational health and occupational pathology” was held in «Kundiiev Institute of Occupational Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» (further Institute) on 11 November 2017.

Such conferences are held annually, starting in 1978. Their conduct in November-December is timed to the date of foundation of the institute. Young scientists from academic institutions of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health, institutions of higher and postgraduate education as well as foreign guests are invited to participate.

This year's conference was also dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Prof.Yu.I. Kundiiev, Vice-President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR and Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. The report "Yuri Ilyich Kundiiev. Milestones of the creative biography (on the occasion of the 90th anniversary)" was presented by V.I. Chernyuk, Director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

The conference program included issues on the problems of medicine in transport, industrial toxicology and occupational health in the use of chemicals, medical-biological criteria of occupational exposure, psychophysiology of work.

18 reports were given at the conference, presented by scientists from the Institute, “Institute of Public Health, Marzeyev Institute of Public Health, Ukrainian Research Institute of Industrial Medicine,, Ukrainian Military Medical Academy, National Medical University named after. O.O. Bohomolets, Kharkiv National Medical University, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Kharkiv National University named after Karazin The presented reports received a very positive assessment in the final speeches of Prof. I.M.Trachtenberg, Prof. V.I.Chernyuk and Prof. A.M. Nahorna.

A competition Commission work at the conference. According to the decision of the Commission the first place with a prize of 5000 UAH was taken SV. Grinyuk (Ukrainian Research Institute of Industrial Medicine", Kryvyi Rih), who delivered a report "Scientific substantiation of prediction the development and course of cerebrovascular diseases in patients with vibration disease from general vibrations".

The second places with premiums for 4000 UAH took N.V. Solokha and A.A. Geiko (OO Bohomolets National Medical University, Kyiv) with a report "Physiological-hygienic and toxicological peculiarities of the harmful effect of nanopowders of chromium disilicide and titanium nitride on workers and its prevention" and O.S. Lagutina (Kundiiev Institute of Occupational Health), Kyiv, with the report "Effect of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (Fe2O3) on the Immune System of the Rats".

The third places 3000 UAH were given to O.M. Lashko for the report "Clinical and diagnostic features of development of lumbar sacral radiculopathy in miners of main occupations in coal mines of Ukraine", N.A. Melnik for the report "Peculiarities of toxic action of lead nanoparticles of various sizes on intact skin and criteria for assessing their danger" and D.V. Zaitsev for the report "Influence of volumetric pneumopressing on the functional state of people with post-traumatic stress disorders" (all from Kundiiev Institute of Occupational Health) and to the representative of Kharkiv NMU and Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin - O.L. Lytovchenko for the report "Biological effects of electromagnetic radiation in cold stress conditions. Morphometric analysis".

Also, works of other young scientists were noted.
